Sue Kennington is a painter whose practice is an exploration into the possibilities of colour as language. She studied at Goldsmiths College, London, and Chelsea College of Art and has been living, working and exhibiting in the UK and Italy since showing in New Contemporaries at Tate Liverpool in 1996. The recurring theme in her work concerns systems and their fallibility. She uses opposing principles of rational and intuitive thinking and invests these into the colour, using touch, esoteric systems and human shaped curves, the simplest of gestures that are based upon the limitations of her own body
